Assessment of health-care waste generation and its management strategy in the Gaza Strip, Palestine

Abstract The situation of health-care waste in the Gaza Strip was threatening environment and public health due to absence appropriate (HCW) handling, treatment, disposal. In 2016, total amount HCW generated estimated about 7199 kg day −1 . Around 20% wastes infectious, on-site segregation done only for sharps most care facilities, while other infectious were comingled with noninfectious normal wastes. 2017, a new strategy management (HCWM) adopted. stated necessity segregate into three categories at generation source sharps, wastes, implemented over 40 clinics. proper showed that 2.4 0.7 is from UNRWA Ministry Health (MOH) clinics, respectively. This quantity accounts rate 11 g per outpatient clinics ratio 9.5 MOH These quantities account 33% 54% governmental South Middle Gaza.
